Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of ₹4710 crore, 624 MW Kiru hydroelectric project to be executed by the Chenab Valley Power Projects Pvt Ltd in Kishtwar on Chenab River in Jammu and Kashmir . The project is to be completed within the 54 months and will command a hydro power generation capacity of 2,271 million units per annum. In addition, a memorandum of understanding was also signed between the JKSPDC and NHPC for the execution of 850 MW Rattle Power project costing ₹6,215.61 crore and will produce 3136.80 million units of energy per annum. These apart, the PM also laid the foundation stone of AAIMS costing ₹1,616 crore, an engineering college, IIMC and all these projects slated to be commissioned by 2023. The foundation stone was also laid for the 1640 meter long bridge on Chenab entailing a cost of ₹206 crore. The double-lane bridge would reduce a distance of 50 km to merely three and would help the milling masses of area and will be commissioned in 30 months, besides he launched a ₹186 crore scheme for beatification and cleaning of Devika and Tawi rivers and launched the construction of an engineering college in Kathua involving ₹26 crore investment.
