PM opens Bogibeel - longest rail-road bridge in NE

longest rail-road bridge in NE
The PM inaugurated Asia’s longest rail-cum-road bridge over the Brahmaputra River, which has been built at an investment of about ₹5000 core. The Indian Railways will introduce two new Intercity Express trains services linking Tinsukia and Naharlagun via the new bridge. The inaugural train will start from Dibrugarh at 11:30 am and reach Naharlagun at 6:45 pm. En route, the Intercity Express trains will halt at New Tinsukia, Dhamalgaon, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, North Lakhimpur, Gogamukh and Harmuti railway stations. Bogibeel bridge will boost connectivity, especially for the movement of troops and weapons in areas close to the China border. While on the lower deck there are two broad gauge lines, on the upper deck is a 3-lane road bridge. Given the multiple challenges involved, the bridge is an engineering marvel.
