PM Narendra Modi Launches Rs 2,700 Cr Infrastructure, Education and Health Projects in Puducherry

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth over Rs 2,700 crore in Puducherry, covering infrastructure, education, healthcare and mobility. The initiatives aim to improve quality of life and strengthen key public services in the Union Territory.

At NIT Karaikal, the Prime Minister inaugurated the new Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Engineering Block and modern hostel facilities to enhance technical education capacity. Infrastructure upgrades at Pondicherry University were also dedicated to support academic growth and research.

In the healthcare sector, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for three Critical Care Blocks under the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission. He highlighted that the Ayushman Bharat scheme is ensuring accessible and affordable healthcare for crores of families across India.

Modi also said that Puducherry has the potential to emerge as a medical tourism hub, noting that the region already has nine medical colleges. The modernisation of the Regional Cancer Centre at JIPMER will further expand advanced healthcare services and capacity in the region.
