PM Approves ₹7,927 Cr Railway Projects to Boost Connectivity

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved three railway projects worth ₹7,927 crore to enhance connectivity and reduce congestion on key routes.
The projects include the Jalgaon–Manmad 4th line (160 km), Bhusawal–Khandwa 3rd & 4th line (131 km), and Prayagraj (Iradatganj)–Manikpur 3rd line (84 km). Together, these multi-tracking projects will add 639 km to the Indian Railways network, benefiting seven districts across Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh, and directly impacting 1,319 villages and 38 lakh residents.
Aligned with the PM-Gati Shakti National Master Plan, the projects will improve multi-modal connectivity, ease operations on the Mumbai–Prayagraj–Varanasi route, and enable more passenger and freight services. Pilgrims will gain smoother access to religious sites such as Trimbakeshwar, Omkareshwar, Kashi Vishwanath, and Chitrakoot. The enhanced infrastructure will also promote tourism by connecting UNESCO World Heritage sites like Ajanta & Ellora Caves and other attractions like Khajuraho, Devgiri Fort, and Keoti Falls.
These projects reflect the government's commitment to comprehensive regional development and increasing employment opportunities under the vision of "Atmanirbhar Bharat."
