Palwal-Sonipat rail line worth ₹4,100-cr on anvil

The Haryana government has fast tracked the Palwal-Sonipat rail line entailing an investment of ₹4,100 crore, The DPR is currently in the final stage, said the state's chief minister. The new line will give a big boost to the economic corridor of the state. The Haryana Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (HRIDC) recently concluded a meeting of stakeholders with empowered officials of the state, at Gurugram. HRIDC has created the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor for the 130 km rail line, which will be completed in the next couple of years. The train on the Orbital Rail Corridor will pass through cities of Gurgaum and Faridabad, bypassing Delhi, and will reach Chandigarh. Currently, train travelers from Gurugram or Faridabad have to board the Shatabadi trains to Chandigarh from Delhi. The Orbital Rail Corridor project would provide direct rail connectivity to main cities of Haryana like Gurugram, Faridabad, Ballabhgarh, Palwal, and Manesar, and will accelerate industrial development in Sohna, Manesar, Gurugram, Rohtak, Bahadurgarh and Kundli. Apart from this, HRIDC is also carrying out a feasibility study for laying the new railway line from Yamunanagar to Chandigarh via Naraingarh-Sadhora, Sohna-Nuh-Alwar, FarukhnagarJhajjar-Charkhi Dadri, Karnal-Yamunanagar, Jind-Hisar and Bhiwani-Loharu areas of the state.
