Odisha seeks speeding of NH project

National Highway project
Odisha has sought the intervention of Nitin Gadkari in expediting the much-delayed four-laning work of Chandikhole-Duburi-Talcher section of National Highway-200. The 133 km long widening project was awarded to ISOLUX Corsan, a foreign construction company, by NHAI and the firm has not yet started the upgradation work. Instead, it has damaged the existing two-lane road and as a result, motorists and commuters are facing hardship due to poor condition of the road. In a bid to strengthen the economic map of Odisha, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs had approved the proposal to develop Chandikhole-Duburi-Talcher Section of NH-200 three years back. The Government has sanctioned Rs.969.63 crore to upgrade this NH stretch from two to four lanes. The project which connects Chandikhole in Jajpur and Kanaktora in Jharsuguda, is passing through Dhenkanal and Angul districts. This NH section also passes through Kalinga Nagar Industrial Complex which houses nine steel plants, including the public sector unit Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited (NINL).
