Adding to the existing road network in the state, the Odisha government has decided to construct four major inter-corridor roads in the state. A decision to this effect was recently taken in a high-level meeting between officials of the NHAI and the Engineer-In-Chief of the Public Works Department (PWD). They included, the four important roads like Sambalpur Ring road, Jharsuguda-Tileibani road, Jharsuguda Bypass road and Cuttack-Paradip road and will now be upgraded and transformed into inter-corridor roads. Detailed discussion on the alignment of the roads was held during the high level meeting recently and in the next one-and-a-half months the road alignment process will be finalized and within next four to five months a detailed project report (DPR) will be prepared. All the four roads are extremely crucial and transforming them to four lanes with inter-corridor tag would drastically reduce the traffic congestion and that the agency has already engaged a consultant to prepare DPR as quickly as possible to start the construction work, said NHAI Chief General Manager, Dharmananda Sarangi
