Odisha Launches ₹5,000 Cr Rural Development Programme

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi launched the ‘Viksit Gaon, Viksit Odisha’ programme, a ₹5,000 crore initiative aimed at transforming 60,000 villages over the next five years. The scheme will allocate ₹1,000 crore annually from 2024-25 to 2028-29 for rural infrastructure development.
A key focus is tribal development, with 40% of funds reserved for tribal-dominated areas. To ensure quality, the minimum project value has been set at ₹3 lakh. This new initiative replaces the ‘Ama Odisha, Nabin Odisha’ programme, with ongoing projects under the old scheme continuing under the new framework.
