Odisha awaits Rs. 4,000cr NIMZ project

Odisha NIMZ project
In yet another booster to the industrial projects in the state, the Central Government is all set to clear NIMZ project spreading across over 163 sq. km and entailed a whopping investment worth Rs. 4,000cr. On this score, the DIPP is currently waiting for an official communication from the state government. It may be recalled that in-principle approval to the mega project was accorded by DIPP in the middle of last year. The Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO), the state's agency for land acquisition, and infrastructure development, are the nodal agencies for implementation of the project. The processing area may include one or more Special Economic Zones (SEZs), industrial parks, warehousing zones, and export-oriented units. Besides, there will be a non-processing area to include residential, commercial and other allied building activities. As a matter of fact, the NIMZ would be a combination of production units, public utilities, logistics, environmental protection mechanism, residential areas, and administrative services. Such zones would have a processing area where the manufacturing facilities along with associated logistics and other services as well as required infrastructure will be established, said official sources.
