Odisha allocated highest ₹5,993-cr for rail projects

Odisha has walked away with the highest ever allocation of ₹5,953 crore for the construction of new rail projects, said East Coast R.ailway (ECoR) sources. Last year, the allotment was ₹5,252 crore. In the Budget proposal, various new railway projects have been sanctioned for Odisha. The funds will be invested in building amenities, track renewals and repairs, bridges, electrification and staff amenities, and ₹180 crore has been earmarked for passenger amenities. A flyover at Baghuapal, two automatic coach washing plants at Bhubaneswar, new wheel workshop at Mancheswar, Angul Electric Loco Shed and Bondamunda project are among the newly-announced railway projects for Odisha. In addition, funds have been allocated for laying new railway tracks. Funds worth ₹400 crore have been allocated for the Haridaspur-Paradeep new line; ₹350 crore for the Khurda Road-Bolangir new line; the Angul-Sukinda Road new line has got ₹250 crore; and ₹150 crore was allocated for the Talcher-Bimlagarh new rail line.
