NPG Evaluates 228 Infra Projects Worth ₹15.89 Lakh Cr under PM GatiShakti

The Network Planning Group (NPG), comprising heads of planning divisions across infrastructure ministries, has assessed 228 projects worth ₹15.89 lakh crore across 83 meetings. These projects span various sectors, including roads (108), railways (85), urban development (12), and renewable energy (1), highlighting a comprehensive push for infrastructure development.
Launched in October 2021, the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan (NMP) marked its third anniversary, achieving significant milestones in streamlining multi-modal connectivity. Complementing this, the National Logistics Policy (NLP) introduced in September 2022 aims to reduce logistics costs and enhance business competitiveness through sustainable and technology-driven logistics networks.
Key recent developments include the beta launch of District Master Plans for 27 aspirational districts by Union Minister Shri Piyush Goyal. In FY 2022-23, ₹4.95 lakh crore worth of 71 projects were evaluated, followed by ₹8.45 lakh crore worth of 74 projects in FY 2023-24. In 2024 alone, 83 projects worth ₹2.49 lakh crore have been assessed, reflecting the government's commitment to boosting infrastructure and logistics efficiency.
In the 83rd meeting held in November, the Network Planning Group (NPG) evaluated eight projects based on the principles of PM GatiShakti: integrated development of multimodal infrastructure, last-mile connectivity to economic and social nodes, intermodal connectivity, and synchronized project implementation. Among the projects evaluated were seven by the Ministry of Railways: The Wardha - Balharshah 4th Line, Itarsi - Nagpur Quadrupling, Gondia - Balharshah Doubling, Aluabari - New Jalpaiguri Quadrupling, Ballari - Chikjajur Doubling, Hosur - Omalur Doubling, and Secunderabad - Wadi Quadrupling. Further, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways presented the Imphal - Kakching - Lamkhai Road on NH-137A.
