ITA President Arnold Dix Visits TAI, Discusses Future of Tunneling in India

Mr. Arnold Dix, President of the International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association (ITA), visited the Tunnelling Association of India (TAI) headquarters on November 20, 2024, for an interactive session with Shri R.K. Dhiman, AVSM, VSM, President of TAI, and the TAI Governing Council.
Prof. Dix, a globally renowned figure in tunneling and underground engineering, shared valuable insights into global advancements, safety innovations, and strategies for addressing the growing demand for underground infrastructure. Discussions included establishing a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) factory in India and creating a National Tunneling Center to centralize tunneling efforts and foster collaboration.
TAI's efforts in integrating advanced technologies and promoting tunneling projects in India were highly praised by Prof. Dix, who also confirmed his participation in TAI's World Tunnel Day celebrations on December 4, 2024, in New Delhi.
Additionally, Prof. Dix congratulated Mr. R.K. Khali, Vice President of TAI, for receiving the prestigious ITA Fellow Award, acknowledging his significant contributions to the tunneling industry.
