NMRCL fast tracks Rs. 1,200cr metro project

Nagpur Metro Project
The entire process to initiate the work on preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR) of London Street metro project is all set to start shortly with Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) submitting a formal proposal to Nagpur Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (NMRCL). In this connection, the metro agency had done a preliminary survey and now DPR work will begin in full swing. While the DPR of the under-construction metro was carried out by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), NMRCL will prepare the DPR on its own, said Managing Director of NMRCL, Brijesh Dixit. Adding that they were of the opinion of the metro to be elevated and should be in the centre of 24 metre wide road (that will be known as Orange City Street) and there should be 5 stations on the stretch. Elaborating further, he said that the process of preparing the DPR would be carried out first. The preliminary drawings will be prepared on the basis of this survey. Eventually multiple alternatives will emerge and the company will choose the best option using an extensive cost benefit analysis after which the design, alignment, and location of metro stations will be finalized, he claimed.
