NHSRCL floats bids for ₹20,000-cr bullet train project
The National High Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRCL) has invited bids for 237-kms of the 508-km Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train project - the biggest ever contract for civil construction in India. Official sources informed that the project is slated for commissioning in 44 months and that infra majors like L&T and AFCON can bid for the project and they would also need to have a joint venture with Japanese companies such as Hitachi Construction and Mitsubishi Construction. As per the agreement with the Japanese funding agency, JICA, only Indian and Japanese construction firms are qualified to place their bids. The companies will have to submit bids with ₹200 crore security amount. Usually, the bid security amount is about 1% of the project cost, as such, the works would involve around ₹20,000 crore investments, said an industry insider.
