NHIDCL to build Chenani-Khannabal highway

The National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) will construct a new NH-244 road project starting from Chenani-Sudhmahadev-Goha-Khellani-Kishtwar-Sinthanpass up to Khannabal in Kashmir, Minister for R&B and Parliamentary Affairs in the hills state, Abdul Rehman Veeri said in a statement, adding that the two lanes road will be upgraded with paved shoulders and that NHIDCL is preparing DPR and feasibility study of the proposed National Highway. The corporation has awarded the maintenance works of the said road and the contractors have already started work. The state government on the directions of CM will make available Rs. 5cr, of which, Rs. 3.97-cr were to be spent through R&B Division Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar. He said that out of Rs 3.01-cr released by NHIDCL to R&B Department Jammu for ordinary repairs, Rs. 2.19-cr were spent in the three divisions.
