NHAI unveils NH-47 expansion

National Highway 47 Expansion
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is all set to depute an agency to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for the proposed Kundanoor-Angamaly NH-47 widening. The planned six-lane stretch will temporarily decongest the NH, while the proposed four-lane bypass is expected to be a long-term solution to resolve traffic congestion, NHAI sources said, adding that the four-lane bypass can be widened to six-lane in most places since vacant land is available in plenty along the highway. As a matter of fact, the proposal was mooted for a new bypass that would intersect major roads, enroute Angamaly for which land will be acquired at a width of 45 metres for the purpose. While selecting a firm for carrying out DPR, NHAI will weigh technical expertise financial conditions of the firm in question. This includes details such as the most feasible alignment and the precise quantum of land needed for the 45-km bypass. The short-listed agency will have to begin work on the DPR by March this year, said official sources.
