NHAI unveils cross-country bus ports

National Highway Authority of India
Taking a cue from the world-class bus ports in Gujarat, the NHAI is currently preparing a road map to build convention centres, bus ports and other transport related activities in the country. In this connection, the transport ministry will prepare a policy for all states wherein, NHAI will invest money for the transformation of bus ports, construct them and thereafter profit will be shared 50% between NHAI and respective states. NHAI will do the construction on the state government land. The idea is to make bus ports hold five star facilities like Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport at Sahar in north-west Mumbai, where there will be underground parking, shops, and malls. If states want to develop such bus ports on their own, NHAI will provide funds to them. There could be 3,000 to 4,000 such bus ports that can be developed across the country and a decision to this effect is on the anvil.
