NHAI unveils ₹2,500-cr four-lane Bridge on Ganga

National Highways Authority of India
The Bihar government has cleared construction of a four-lane bridge over the Ganga River where the project starts from Dighwara in Saran district and spans up to Sherpur near Danapur. The new bridge would be part of the revised alignment of 160-km-long Patna ring road. NHAI will construct the bridge at an investment of ₹2,500 crore. It will directly connect Sherpur to Kanhauli near Bihta through the 60-m wide ring road and will provide direct access to Bihta airport from where commercial flight operations will begin after construction of a civil enclave. Once ready, the bridge will provide hassle-free access to Bihta airport from all the north districts of Bihar, informed road construction department (RCD) principal secretary Amrit Lal Meena. The proposed Dighwara-Sherpur bridge would be the sixth road bridge over the Ganga in the Patna capital region and is being constructed 12 to 15km west from the existing Digha-Sonepur rail-cum-road bridge.
