NHAI to Replace Collapsed Highway Section in Kooriyadu, Kerala, with Viaduct

The Chairman of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Santhosh Kumar Yadav, has directed that the collapsed section of the under-construction national highway at Kooriyadu in Malappuram district be replaced with a viaduct. The decision was made during a detailed project evaluation session held with contractors and senior officials.
Yadav also met with Chief Secretary A. Jayathilak to review the progress of national highway development projects in Kerala. During the meeting, he briefed Jayathilak on the status of ongoing works and outlined key milestones. The Chief Secretary stressed the need for immediate corrective action to address existing delays and lapses, urging swift resolution to prevent further setbacks.
Yadav assured that construction activities would be expedited once the monsoon subsides. He further elaborated on the penalties imposed on the contractor responsible for the damaged section at Kooriyadu. Additionally, he shared details of the measures taken against the company, current safety review protocols, and feedback from expert committees.
