NHAI takes up Rs. 1,181-cr road project

NHAI Road Projects
Attempting to exactly match its commitment to re-launch the pending projects in the country's road and highway sector, the transport ministry and National Highway Authority of India, in a recently started joint initiative, has taken up the road project connecting Krishnagar with Behrampur in West Bengal. The project in question, which commanded a length of 78 km, entailed an investment worth Rs. 1,181cr, will be commissioned within the stipulated time frame, said official sources, claiming that the mega highway project was languishing for the past half decade as the state government was unable to complete the land acquisition process.

To complete the project, in which NHAI would put an additional amount worth Rs. 404cr, the banks Rs. 35-cr and promoters Rs. 40cr, to adjust the cost escalation as the original cost of the project was Rs. 702cr, they added.
