NHAI plans ₹1,800-cr elevated road corridor in Nashik

NHAI
The national highway division of the state's PWD has decided to build a ₹1,800 crore elevated rail corridor from Sarda Circle to Datta Mandir Chowk in the Nashik region of Maharashtra. The Nashik unit of NHAI, which was to prepare the DRP and implement the project, has directed the state PWD (NH) to take over the project as the department is under the state government , but has to get the nod from MoRTH as funding for all projects comes from the ministry. The Union minister for road transport and highways, Nitin Gadkari, had announced the project and the state PWD (NH division) has been assigned the work but at a later stage the ministry directed NHAI to take over the project and implement it on a fast track basis. Apart from the elevated four-lane corridor, there will be service roads to enter/exit the flyover which would decongest the Dwarka circle area as well as the Nashik Road area as it connects the Mumbai-Agra highway and Nashik-Pune Highway at Sinnar Phata.
