NH widening project
The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is all set to start road-widening work on the Sinnar-Shirdi highway at an investment of Rs. 1,035 crore. The land acquisition process has already been completed and the assigned contractor has started mobilizing men and machines to build the 51-km long stretch. The existing 10-meter wide road will be further widened to a 20-meter road, and a median and a 5.5-meter wide Palkhi route along the highway would also be constructed. Pilgrims from across the country use this road to reach Saibaba temple at Shirdi, wiith many preferring to walk all the way to Shirdi. The DPR of the road was prepared way back in 2015. NHAI officials of Nashik division said that the project entails land acquisition of 25 villages along the road whereby 19 villages fall in the Nashik district and the remaining in Ahmednagar district.
