NHAI gives nod for ₹2,300 cr road in TN

The NHAI has recently cleared twin stretches of the road project involving an investment of about ₹2,300 crore. The projects included a distance of 48-km of the road from Cholapuram near Kumbakonam to Thanjavur in Tamil Nadu and a sum of ₹1,176 crore has been allotted for this road length. For Cholapuram-Sethiyathoppu stretch covering a distance of 50.48-km, a sum of ₹1127.87 crore has been allotted. As much as 40% of the cost will be borne by NHAI, 20% to 25% by the developer and the rest could be raised through debts by the contract company. The road will be constructed on Build, Finance. Operate and Transfer (BDFOT) model and toll will be collected for 27 years after the commissioning of the mega project.
