Decks have been cleared for the commencement of civil work on widening a portion of NH-75 connecting Hassan and Bantwal Cross (BC) Road at an investment of Rs.400 crore. Apart from this, there is also a proposal to construct a tunnel passing through Shiradi Ghat, as such, this stretch has not been included in the project, as currently a detailed project report is being prepared for the proposed tunnel project. The widening of the highway between Nelamangala and Hassan has been completed and the latest approval has pave the way for the four-lane highway between Hassan and Maranahalli, near Sakaleshpur. The road work between Hassan and Maranahalli is being taken up by Isolux Corsan Company, while the stretch between Addahole and BC Road has been awarded to L&T, said official sources.
