In order to build world class highway network across the country, the Union government has recently cleared road projects of Rs. 1,911cr, covering six states- Nagaland, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Uttarakhand, and Arunachal Pradesh, said official sources, elaborating that approved road stretches like NH 61 in Nagaland will entail an estimated investment of Rs. 343cr, besides upgradation of Rayachoti-Kadapa stretch on NH 18 at an estimated sum of Rs. 350-cr in Andhra Pradesh. In Maharashtra, it gave a nod to two-laning of Nagpur-Umred-Bramhapur-Armori stretch of Rs. 269-cr and reconstruction and widening of a highway stretch on NH 94 in Uttarakhand for Rs. 209cr. Arunachal Pradesh will see a stretch widened at a cost of Rs. 44cr. Two projects in Karnataka relating to widening of Bidar to Humanabad section of NH 50 at a cost of Rs. 367-cr and a stretch on NH 150 for Rs. 39-cr also got approval.
