NEC takes up ₹189-cr Tuensang-Longleng road project

North Eastern Council (NEC) has recently launched the much awaited construction and rehabilitation work on the Tuensang-Longleng road under North East Road Sector Development Scheme (NERSDS) at Nagalempong Zero Point Longleng, at an investment of ₹189 crore, state minister, S. Pangnyu Phom, said, elaborating that the 51km road stretch is considered to be the oldest PWD road in Nagaland constructed in the year 1950. With the construction of this road, not only the people of two communities (Phom and Chang) will benefit but also brings great relief to the entire Eastern Nagaland people including Nagas living beyond the borders as this road will facilitate with one the shortest route to reach commercial city Dimapur via neighboring Assam. As the heavy machinery gets ready for work on the first day after the launching, pastors, missionaries, leaders from different organizations and the departmental officials launched the construction work with customary celebrations.
