A section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor from Sahibabad to Duhai costing ₹30,0724 crore has been fast-tracked as the NCRTC aims to achieve the stipulated time lines. The deadline for the entire project corridor Sarai Kale Khan to Meerut is March 2024. The officials will be conducting a meeting of stakeholders, including the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) and Meerut Development Authority (MDA) shortly. The government wants the first RRTS train operation on the 17km route between Sahibabad and Duhai to start by March 2023 for which pre-construction work like road widening, tree cutting, geotechnical investigation, detailed designing, and appointment of consultant for station design has started, while civil work will be taken up in two phases for which the contract will be awarded soon. NCRTC needs land near the Hindon Motel through which the proposed corridor will pass, while a request for 8.5 acres near the elevated road at Vasundhara has been made by NCRTC, which it plans to use for casting yard, said chief engineer at GDA, VN Singh. The 82-km Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Modipuram in Meerut, will have four stations in Ghaziabad — Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar and Duhai.
