NCRTC fast tracks ₹25,000 cr rapid rail project

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) in consultation with Union urban development ministry has recently decided to start the construction work on the first phase of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) entailing an investment of ₹25,000 crore shortly. The first phase of the three corridors project covers Delhi-Neemrana-Shahjahanpur, Delhi-Gurugram-Rewari-Alwar (DGRA) and Delhi to Behror. It was also decided to resolve issues cropping up during implementation of the project, including its alignment. Rapid rail to be linked with metro, work on Delhi-Behror track to start in the next few months and DGRA will be constructed in three phases. Phase 1 will run from Sarai Kale Khan to SNB (Shahjahanpur–Neemrana-Behror), Phase 2 from Shahjahanpur to Sotanala and Phase 3 from Khairthal to Alwar. Phase 1 — Sarai Kale Khan to SNB — will be a 126 km-long stretch, of which 81.86km falls under Haryana. The estimated cost of the entire project spanning three corridors is estimated to cost about ₹1,00,000 crore with Bilaspur as one of the stations and the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has been tasked with implementing the RRTS project, chief public relations officer, NCRTC, Sudhir Sharma said.
