MP pushes twin expressway projects

Chambal Narmada Expressways
In its unfailing quest to build world-class highway network across the state, the MP government has initiated planning for the alignment of two mega expressways, Chambal and Narmada with six to eight lanes controlled access for high speed vehicular traffic. The process of preparing a blueprint of the ambitious project including land acquisition has been put in motion. The alignment for Narmada Expressway, which will begin from Amarkantak, the origin of holy river Narmada in Anuppur district, up to Alirajpur, the bordering district of Gujarat, commands a length of 1300 km of national highway. Of this, 100 km area is to be aligned while the rest of the national highway has been cleared for expressway connecting Alirajpur with Ahmedabad. Similarly, the Chambal Expressway will measure almost half of the Narmada Expressway from Sheopur district to Etawah in Uttar Pradesh, covering Morena, Shampur, Gohad and Ater. The project will be built jointly by NHAI and state and the alignment for the expressways would be completed shortly.
