The chief minister in Madhya Pradesh laid the foundation stone for the Indore Metro Rail project sanctioned by the Union Urban Development ministry. It is worth mentioning here that the metro projects in Indore and Bhopal were sanctioned by the previous government in the state. In addition, the state is creating an Indore Metropolitan Area and even Bhopal will also have a metropolitan tag. A DPR is being prepared for the metro rail projects in Indore and Bhopal. The construction of project, operation and maintenance will generate huge job and economic activities for the locals. The CM also announced that Rau and parts of Ujjain, Dewas and Dhar districts will be included in the mega project at a later stage and the development of the entire belt at current prices has been estimated at ₹7,500 crore.
