DDA delivers transit-oriented development plan in Delhi
The Delhi Development Authority has approved the Transit Oriented Development Policy to ensure development around transit nodes and encourage use of public transport in the national capital. To start with, it has picked up five very busy metro stations, including Mayur Vihar Extension, Dwarka Sector 21, Rohini Sector 18, Mukundpur, Sarojini Nagar and INA for development. TOD consists of a variety of high-rise and high density mixed-use and mixed-income buildings within a short distance of a rapid public transport network. This would open up development and investment opportunities for the private sector, and also help cross-subsidize social amenities, affordable housing and public transport. Ensuring ease of doing business, the authority has approved amalgamation charges for commercial properties at 10 percent of the circle rates applicable at the time of submission of request. This will apply on the total area of the plot. DDA also approved a 20 percent concession on the current rate of ₹2.8 lakh per sqm for disposal of 84 CWG flats to government bodies, PSUs and central and state corporations. The maximum size of the plot would be 1000 sqm for the socio-cultural category, while it would be 400 sqm for the religious category. To establish an institutional hub in Narela sub city, DDA has approved change of land use of 36.6 hectares in the District Centre Narela from commercial to public and semi-public.
