MP approves ₹8,931-cr Indore-JNPT rail line

Madhya Pradesh has recently approved the Mhow-Manmad railway line which will reduce the distance of 815 km from Indore to Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) in Mumbai by 150 km. Among others, the route crisscrosses major cities like Indore, Vadodara and Surat. An MoU for the rail line was signed between JNPT- Ministry of Shipping, Ministry of Railways and the governments of Maharashtra and MP in 2018. For the ₹8,931 crore project, the state will pitch in ₹408.64 crore which is about 15 percent of the total cost. The CM also launched five infrastructure projects of ₹800 crore which are expected to attract ₹10,000 crore investment during the on-going investors' summit, 'Magnificent Madhya Pradesh' in the state. The CM laid the foundation stone of a ₹60 crore inter-state bus terminus (ISBT) and launched the construction of a integrated command and control centre of Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) being developed at a cost of ₹50 crore, and reviewed the on-going construction of a flyover at Yerwada's Golf Course junction.
