MoS Kamlesh Paswan Reviews PMAY-G, NRLM and PMGSY Progress in Majuli, Assam

Union Minister of State for Rural Development Kamlesh Paswan reviewed the implementation of key rural development schemes in Majuli district, Assam, during his official visit. He held a detailed meeting with district officials at the Deputy Commissioner’s office to assess physical and financial progress, along with quality standards under various central schemes.

Interacting with women Self-Help Groups, the minister highlighted that under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana–National Rural Livelihoods Mission, 39.76 lakh women in Assam are linked to 3.62 lakh SHGs. Loans worth Rs 23,252 crore have been disbursed, with non-performing assets at just 0.56 percent. He said women-led development remains central to achieving a Developed India.

Paswan inspected houses built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Gramin at Garamur. In Assam, 29.09 lakh houses have been sanctioned and 21.33 lakh completed, while in Majuli 20,107 out of 22,349 sanctioned houses have been completed. He directed officials to ensure quality and timely completion of the remaining houses.

The minister also reviewed works under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, noting that over 98 percent of the 9,269 sanctioned road projects in Assam have been completed. He emphasised the importance of maintenance and strong rural connectivity to support education, healthcare and local economic growth.

During the visit, Paswan inspected healthcare facilities at Garamur and paid respects at prominent Vaishnav institutions in Majuli, reiterating the government’s commitment to strengthening rural infrastructure, housing and livelihoods through transparent and effective implementation of schemes.
