MoRTH
Exhorting banks, financial institutions and private players to help develop infra projects worth Rs.25 trillion in highways and shipping sector in the next five years, Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said that his ministry has already undertaken massive infra projects involving a whopping investment. Reiterating that funds are not a constraint for undertaking large developmental projects as nearly Rs.5 trillion can be raised from capital markets, most of which could in fact come from small investors. The ministry has undertaken various developmental projects for which it needs funds. This can create 1 crore jobs and contribute 2-3 percent to GDP as the ministry is rolling out nearly Rs.7 trillion worth of projects which were recently announced. This is the biggest infra program including the Bharatmala, an ambitious cross-country project as it expects to award nearly 25,000 km of road projects this financial year.
