MoRTH plans satellite city on Srinagar-Leh Highway

MoRTH
The Union transport ministry has planned to build a satellite township, a winter town, along an 18-km stretch between Z- Morh and Zojila tunnel on the Srinagar-Leh national highway. The township will be developed as a winter destination equipped with modern facilities like winter sports, luxury accommodations and allied facilities with matching infrastructure in collaboration with the administration of Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir. The Union transport minister has chaired a meeting of the representatives of both the Union Territories, Governor, Manoj Sinha, and also senior officials from the ministry and Border Road Organization (BRO) to work out modalities for the new township. All the stakeholders will work together for setting up this town. The minister said that building a township will boost tourism and create huge job generation avenues to the locals as the township will be more beautiful than Davos in Switzerland.
