MoRTH kickstarts ₹5,555-cr highways in hill state

The Union transport minister laid the foundation stone for seven NH projects worth ₹5,555 crore and has started preparing a DPR for construction of a ring road in Haridwar and the balance work of Haridwar-Dehradun National Highway, among others, in Uttarakhand. Official sources informed that the minister also announced rejuvenation plans for Banganga and Sonali rivers, and that the Centre will be taking up construction work on road projects in Dehradun and Haldwani very shortly. Completion of the Char Dham Highway Development Project will provide all weather connectivity from Rishikesh to Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri. The entire project covers a route length of 900 km and an estimated cost of about ₹12,000 crore
