Union transport minister has given go ahead to the execution of the ring road, which will entail an investment of ₹23,000 crore and urged the local authorities that his ministry is in favor of completing the project in a phased manner and insisted on at least 80% land acquisition to start the actual work. He said that the out of the total investment his ministry would assure funding of ₹10,000 crore. The work of preparing a detailed project report of eight-laning of Pune-Aurangabad road is currently in full swing. The minister has also assured that Chandni Chowk flyover project in Pune would be completed within the stipulated time and that the work order for the project has been issued. The PMC has acquired 5.5 hectare of the required 14 hectare land so far and called upon the local body to speed up the land acquisition process to ensure that the flyover is completed on time.
