MoRTH clears ₹2,458 cr highway projects in HP

The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways recently approved two NH projects in Himachal Pradesh for up-gradation and matching the World Bank standards for financial assistance, said sources, claiming that these national highways are Hamirpur-Mandi section of NH-70 (New NH-03) having length of 124 km and Paonta Sahib-Gumma section of NH-72B (New NH-707) having length of 97 km with estimated project costs of ₹909.81 crore and ₹779.10 crore respectively. The Hamirpur-Mandi NH will be developed as green highway for sustainable environment and inclusive growth. A team of the World Bank is currently inspecting the roads and will meet state functionaries. In addition, the World Bank has also approved the second phase of the State Road Transformation Program to be executed by the Himachal Pradesh Road and other Infrastructure Development agency at an investment of ₹770 crore.
