MoRTH approves 18 projects worth 1,000-km in Punjab

Union industries minister, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, informed that the Union transport ministry has approved the construction of 18 road projects commanding a length of 1,000 km in Punjab. Most of the proposals for the construction of new roads had been sent by the previous state government but remained in limbo. The three new road links of the prestigious Delhi-Amritsar-Katra four-lane expressway had also been approved as eight of these eighteen projects pertained to Ferozepur and Bathinda parliamentary constituencies. The Union transport minister has accorded approval to all the road projects including the Patran – Nakodar, Nakodar – Gurdaspur and Nakodar – Amritsar stretches. The work on preparing the detailed project reports has been going on a fast-track basis and the construction work on the projects is likely to start shortly. The projects pertaining to Bathinda and Ferozepur parliamentary constituencies included the Malout – Dabwali stretch, Sunam – Bhaini Bagha, Bhaini Bagha – Kot Shamir, Jhoke Harihar – Buragujjar, Rupana – Malout – Dabwali, Abohar – Fazilka, Jodhpur Romana – Dabwali and Malout – Sadhuwali roads. Besides those pertaining to the Delhi – Amritsar – Katra four-lane expressway included the Amritsar -Ghoman, Ghoman – Tanda, Amritsar – Ramdas, Hoshiarpur – Una, Hoshiarpur – Phagwara, Sunam – Moonak, Moonak – Uklana and Tanda – Hoshiarpur road stretches.
