Moolmans Secures R10.6 Billion Mining Contract with Black Mountain

Moolmans has secured a 60-month, R10.6 billion contract with Black Mountain Mining (Pty) Ltd—jointly owned by Vedanta and Exxaro Resources—for operations at the Gamsberg Mine in the Northern Cape, South Africa. The contract reinforces Moolmans’ expertise in the mining sector, its commitment to operational excellence, and its strong client relationships, reaffirming its position as a leading mining contractor in Africa.

A dedicated Moolmans team has been working closely with Black Mountain to ensure a seamless ramp-up to full operations by April 1, 2025. The transition is being managed while upholding the highest safety and productivity standards. To support the project, equipment has been redeployed from completed ventures, and new machinery has been commissioned in collaboration with key OEMs. The contract also facilitates a significant R1.3 billion fleet renewal program, positioning Moolmans to substantially increase contracted volumes and support Black Mountain’s growth strategy.

Beyond operational benefits, the project is expected to enhance economic opportunities in the Northern Cape, with Moolmans creating 342 new direct jobs, bringing its site workforce to 690 employees.
