MNRE Launches ₹2.3 Cr Rooftop Solar Start-Up Challenge to Boost Renewable Innovation

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India, has launched the Innovative Projects Start-Up Challenge to accelerate breakthroughs in Rooftop Solar (RTS) and Distributed Renewable Energy (DRE) technologies. Organized with support from the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) and Startup India (DPIIT), the challenge seeks disruptive solutions to make clean energy more affordable, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable.
Indian startups are invited to submit innovations spanning green tech, AI, IoT, blockchain, construction, energy hardware, fintech, and waste management. Selected entries will compete for a prize pool of ₹2.3 crore, including ₹1 crore for the top winner. Winners will also receive incubation, pilot implementation, and mentorship support from MNRE and NISE.
Applications close on 20th August 2025, and results will be announced on 10th September 2025 via the Startup India portal.
