The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has recently started the construction work on the metro corridor connecting Wadala-Ghatkopar-Thane-Kasarvadavali with soil testing work in and around the area of Bhakti Park at Wadala and planning for traffic diversion along the route is currently underway. The soil testing is being done in order to check the condition of the soil before the piles are erected for construction of the corridor, said MMRDA sources, adding that the metro corridor in question is being constructed simultaneously in five packages. After this, authorities will begin identification of utilities beneath the soil. ―electricity and gas lines run underground, which need to be identified through manual excavation to avoid any major accidents during construction period.
