MMRDA clears ₹3,500-cr multi-modal hub

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has approved ₹3,500 crore for construction of a multi-modal integration project, which will facilitate widening of footpaths, cycle tracks, parking zones, traffic signal improvement, street lighting, CCTV, path finding maps, feeder services and street furniture. It will also rejuvenate the entire road network below all the Metro corridors. The Port Rail and Ropeway Corporation Ltd. (IPRCL) was deputed to prepare a Detailed Project Report. The projects can establish East-West Connectivity along with a link to Malad Metro station on Metro-2A corridor and Marve, and further to Borivali station on Western Railway, Metro-2A and Gorai Jetty, said Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA, RA Rajeev. Another important step was to finance the Konkan Irrigation Development Corporation (KDIC) for construction of the Kavdas Dam, a part of the Surya Dam project which is being implemented by MMRDA.
