MMRC starts tunneling for Metro-3 corridor

In order to build the on-going metro project within the stipulated timelines, Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC), is all set to start the tunneling work for the construction of the Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ Metro-3 underground corridor. The construction work will soon begin in south Mumbai from Cuffe Parade, passing through Colaba, Azad Maidan, Churchgate, Grant Road up to the Science Museum in Worli. The tunneling work between Mahim and Dadar is already in full swing and that the work is being launched from shafts at three locations — Colaba Woods in Cuffe Parade, another one at Azad Maidan in CST and one at Mumbai Central. A total of 17 tunnel boring machines (TBM) will be used for the entire underground corridor's construction and of these, four have arrived in India and the remaining expected to reach the country shortly.
