Mission Amrit Sarovar Surpasses Target, Enters Phase II

Launched in April 2022, Mission Amrit Sarovar aimed to construct or rejuvenate 75 ponds per district, totaling 50,000 nationwide. By January 2025, over 68,000 Sarovars have been completed, significantly improving surface and groundwater availability.

Phase II will continue with a stronger focus on community participation (Jan Bhagidaari) to enhance climate resilience and ecological balance. The initiative is being implemented through convergence with schemes like Mahatma Gandhi NREGS, 15th Finance Commission Grants, and Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sichayi Yojna. Public contributions, including CSR and crowdfunding, are also supporting the mission.
