South Western Railway plans 287-km Circular Rail Network for Bengaluru

SWR
The South Western Railway (SWR) is set to establish a 287-km circular rail network around Bengaluru's outskirts. The initiative aims to enhance local train services, reduce pressure on existing rail networks, and complement the Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project and Namma Metro. The ministry of railways has approved the Final Location Survey (FLS) for this double-line network, connecting key areas around the city to bolster rail capacity and ease congestion. With a survey worth Rs 7.2 crore, the focus will be on alignment, station mapping, and infrastructure planning. The SWR highlights that this network will offer efficient and practical train services, working in conjunction with the city's suburban and metro rail systems.
