Afcons Infrastructure
Afcons Infrastructure has emerged as the lowest bidder for the design and construction of a 6.52 km underground section of the Lucknow Metro East-West Corridor (Phase-1B), with a bid of Rs 1,632 crore. The section will connect Charbagh Metro Station to Chowk Metro Station and form a key part of the corridor’s underground network.

According to the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC), the financial bids were opened on October 5, 2026, and the stipulated completion period for the work is three years. Five companies participated in the tender process: Afcons Infrastructure, Sam India Projects, Larsen & Toubro, Hindustan Construction Company and Tata Projects.

The scope of work includes the construction of seven underground metro stations and associated civil infrastructure. The alignment passes through densely populated areas, making it a critical component of the East-West Corridor.

UPMRC has already awarded tenders for the construction of five elevated metro stations, the viaduct and the Vasant Kunj Metro Depot under the corridor.

The Lucknow Metro Phase-1B East-West Corridor is being developed at an estimated cost of Rs 5,801 crore. The 12-station corridor will comprise five elevated stations and seven underground stations.

Construction of the elevated and underground sections will proceed simultaneously, with the aim of commissioning metro services across the entire corridor within the stipulated timeline. The project is expected to strengthen urban connectivity and improve public transport access across Lucknow.
