During the groundbreaking ceremony of India’s first advanced 3D glass semiconductor packaging unit in Bhubaneswar, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted the rapid transformation of railway infrastructure in Odisha, stressing the government’s focus on improving connectivity and capacity across the state. He said railway projects worth over Rs 90,000 crore are currently under execution, marking an unprecedented expansion of the network and reflecting the Centre’s commitment to strengthening both passenger and freight infrastructure.

During his visit, Vaishnaw also reviewed the redevelopment of Bhubaneswar Railway Station, emphasising timely completion and quality execution. He noted that the upgraded station will offer improved passenger comfort with modern amenities, in line with Indian Railways’ push to transform stations into world-class infrastructure hubs.

He said Odisha has received a record railway budget allocation of Rs 10,928 crore, significantly higher than previous years, enabling faster project execution. He added that 59 stations are being redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme to create modern, passenger-friendly facilities.

Highlighting connectivity goals, Vaishnaw said all 30 districts of Odisha are being brought under rail connectivity, ensuring inclusive development and better integration of remote regions with the national network.

He also pointed to key projects such as the proposed four-line coastal rail corridor from Balasore to Berhampur, which will enhance capacity along the coastal belt, improve mobility, reduce congestion, and support economic growth.

Vaishnaw said these initiatives will strengthen regional connectivity, boost economic activity, and further integrate Odisha with India’s freight and passenger networks.
