Shivraj Singh Chouhan Flags Off Freedom Struggle-Themed Metro Train in Delhi
The specially themed train highlights the lives, ideas and contributions of freedom fighters, revolutionaries and other prominent personalities associated with India’s independence movement. The initiative aims to help Metro commuters learn about the country’s freedom struggle and the sacrifices of its national heroes.
Speaking at the event, Chouhan said the initiative would help connect the younger generation with India’s history and inspire them through the courage, patriotism and sacrifices of those who fought for the country.
As a tribute to India’s martyrs, Chouhan wrote the patriotic words, “Fairs will be held every year at the pyres of the martyrs,” on the Metro train.
Chouhan appreciated the initiative and thanked Prabhat Prakashan, the Managing Director of Delhi Metro and the Metro team for bringing stories of India’s freedom movement closer to the public.
During the event, Chouhan was also presented with books published by Prabhat Prakashan, including Apnaapan. Books documenting the journey and development of the Delhi Metro were also showcased.
The initiative aims to turn everyday Metro journeys into an opportunity for citizens to connect with India’s history and draw inspiration from the ideals and contributions of its freedom fighters.
