NHSRCL completes land acquisition for MAHSR project
The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has achieved a milestone by completing 100% land acquisition in Gujarat for the upcoming Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) project. The acquisition of the final parcel of land in Gujarat’s Surat district, specifically in Kathore village, encompassing 4.99 hectares, has also been completed. Overall, the project required the acquisition of 951.14 hectares of land across eight districts in the state, out of a total project land requirement of 1389.49 hectares. The largest land acquisitions were made in Surat (160.51 hectares), Vadodara (140.3 hectares), Bharuch (140 hectares), and Ahmedabad (133.29 hectares). With this latest acquisition, the NHSRCL has acquired 99.95% of the necessary land for the project, covering Gujarat, Maharashtra, and the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu. In neighbouring Maharashtra, out of the 429.71 hectares required for the project, 99.83% of the land acquisition process has been completed, with 7.90 hectares acquired in the Union Territory. The project will feature an operational control center located in Sabarmati, Ahmedabad, along with three depots, two in Gujarat and one in Thane, Maharashtra.
